Long ago, there was a dark-haired child living with his family in a village. One day, his father had to move to a country where most people were blond, hoping to find a better job. There, the child felt different and lonely, because he was often teased. He thought that maybe if he hid his dark hair under a hat, they would invite him to play, too.
Years passed. The dark-haired child grew up and became a father. One day, he learned that his own son had been teasing a new classmate. And so, he began to tell his story… As his son listened, he realized how badly he had made his friend feel. Wanting to make things right, he came up with a plan to make his friend happy.
This time, Zülfü Livaneli writes for a future filled with peace — one where children who have been torn from their homes and forced to migrate can walk hand in hand with their friends.

Genç yazar Özge Bahar Sunar’ın dikkat çekici bu ilk kitabındaki masalsı anlatımı, Ceyhun Şen’in esprili çizimleriyle hayat buluyor.

One day before school starts, a little hedgehog has a small accident while wandering through the forest, and his fingers are wrapped in bandages. The hedgehog goes to school with great excitement and listens carefully to his lessons, but with his bandaged fingers, he can’t take part in the writing exercises.
The teacher announces that the following week there will be an “A” letter exhibition, inviting the entire forest, and that every animal in the class must contribute by creating the most beautiful letter A. And so the little hedgehog’s adventure begins.
Despite his bandaged fingers, the little hedgehog doesn’t lose hope. Thinking beyond the usual ways, he manages to create three different letter As — and in doing so, he inspires his classmates for the next exhibition.
This warm-hearted story encourages readers not to give in to discouragement and to turn obstacles into opportunities, while also showing just how many different paths can lead to a solution. The little hedgehog’s creative ideas and cheerful spirit throughout the story are sure to delight children. Young author Özge Bahar Sunar’s striking debut comes to life with Ceyhun Şen’s witty illustrations.

Books with a purpose
Learn about how we pick and stock books for our store!
The world of children’s books is vast! There are so many wonderful stories and illustrations from around the globe, and we aim to represent as many as we can. As a small business just starting out, we’re very selective—focusing on a few key categories we truly believe in.
We release books in batches and love hearing your feedback on what you’d like to see next in our library. All available titles are stocked locally and ship within 2 working days, so you won’t be waiting for overseas deliveries.
Whenever possible, we review a physical copy of each book before adding it to our site. Occasionally, this means a title may be listed as pre-order only until it arrives.
